Hi Guys

girlfriend arrived at workshop in P38 today to interupt my work on latest project
http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/why-you-should-change-your-oil-regularly-98678.html

Show a fault in message centre fuses 12, 14 and 15 failed
Boot would not open, no lights drivers side or indicators etc

On looking at BECM fuses, 14 had a 20A in it 15 was empty, but

heres the rub, got a loose wire from fuse 5 slot into a fuse holder and then back in to BECM

cunning plan by the brother in law
to swap the fuse holders from one to the other, ( let him crack on as i was under my other motor) after much fiddling around we think there is a loose connection to the BECM, can wiggle wires and get it to go sometimes not others

Will pop a pic up in my album in a bit, trying to pack

Anybody else had this fault

is it BECM needs work or a new one

Luckily i have one spare, so might be a job for the irishrover

any input or advise dont hesitate to post

BURN IT is not an option as it is in the father in laws barn ( next to the shed that is filling up with P38 bits)

Is it me or is that a P38 thing once you have one you collect bits.??

Good Man Cavey..bet your on a high stool in the bar !!!:smokin::beer2:

Yeah, those "Links" were optional extras for top of the range Autobioraphies,Westminster and Holland & Hollands.

:hysterically_laughi

Some thieving herbert must have nicked the gun safe out of it then with my matching antique purdeys:mil84:

and the electric front seats etc

not at the bar, in my room watch the tv (top gun...kelly mcgills and a young meg ryan...mmh)

and hanging out on here

quick question

is it easiest to have the seat out to remove a becm?
reckon it will prob come out the side but looks fiddly

am expecting BECM to be an L one as manual seats

can you reprogramme a H becm to my motor as i have some electric seats spare,, as u do

got the code / part no of the spare which is a H
other codes are AMR6531
033269A ?
23.8.97 V35.ASM
whatever they all mean

have yet to have the BECM out of the normal motor, but reckon the one with the bottom knock is same year and a manual with manual leather seats so that one must be similar so may rip that one out as dont think it will be going anywhere for a bit:D

Not really..best to remove the seat bolts and just tip it back.
There is a chance that yours could be H line. The later "YWC" versions are backwards compatable and are all H line, they stopped producing L versions.

If yours is H then just fit your own logic board to the replacement and give it a go.

You know where I am and where I will be in a couple of weeks if you are stuck.

Hi Guys

Yippe the silver P38 lives
got the silver one going today

had to swap the BECM and the fusebox

With many thanks to Irishrover for his advise via PM

That is why i like this forum, always someone to help out or someone who has done the job previously

No probs. Cavey. Your lucky that you have more P38 spare parts than the Land Rover main depot at Desford !!
Forgot to tell you about my "Consultation Fee" :smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2::beer2:

No worries

have sent you a PM pledgeing that already

Re the P38 bits, reckon i am going to start selling some

What do i need to get electric front seats to work, is it a alteration of BECM programming, plugged it i when i had the old one out whilst fiddling with BECM but it didnt work

New BECM was a H line if that helps

Have the front seats been working previously on the car??
The H spec becm should accommodate memory electric seats without programming. If they have been retro fitted, make sure the seat ecu is present under the seat sqab and the harness is intact and connected also the fuse should be inserted in the relevant becm slot.

blimey irish,it would be cheaper to buy a nooo BECM than pay you your consultation fee in the manner prescribed.:D:D:p;);)

No the seats were manual in the vehicle

but in my pile of spare when i bought the engine knock one, was a set of grey leather interior inc electric seats

so while i had the seat out i pluggged the electric one in its place

have put the manual back in for now

will go and have a look under the seat after cooking my tea, is the seat ecu obvious

then i will check the fuse under the seat as well

Just a black box with multi pin connectors on it. There is also a loom that plugs into it.

Hey Gemsy...steady up..I've given Cavey a 50% discount !!!!

I had same fault on mine but fuses were fine, finally tracked it down to one of the maxi fuses in fuse box under bonnet had blown, replaced that and everything worked again
