Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations for a place to repair Disco 3 / RRSport modules:-
In particular:-

Body control Module / BCM / Passenger fusebox module (or whatever the damn thing is called...)
Instrument Cluster.

Any recommendations for a good, trustworthy repairer?

Cheers,

Mike

CJB/BCU and Ipack.;)
why do they need repairing?

Because they stop working. You get the dreaded hazards flashing and a host of canbus faults. I’ve had an IPK and BCU repaired by separate companies, but neither were brilliant - the IPK had to go back, and the least said about the BCM repairer, the better. I’m hoping to have a few recommendations for experts in this field.

If the BCU and Ipack have already been repaired, then few repair engineers will want to fix someone else's bad workmanship.

Why not get some working replacements and cut your loses with the badly repaired one?

Sorry - I wasn't clear.
I run a LR specialist out on the Island of Madeira.
I've fixed the customers car - a RR Sport, but it was hard work and took a long time to get the IPK and BCU fixed.

I'm asking for a recommendation for a repairer who is trustworthy for future work.

Regarding replacements, I wish it was that simple!
On the Disco 3 / RRS and onwards, the BCU and IPK (and Engine I think) are coded together and encrypted.
Once they have been coded, they cannot be re-coded.
(If anyone knows any different, please do tell...)
They need to be virginised, or you can "clone" a unit if the memory chips are not the cause of failure.
SO even if you find a good one, then you still have to send it off to be virginised or cloned!

The IPK company I used actually did fix the problem in the end, and were very good about it, but it did take some time and two rounds of shipping.

The BCU company was simply a disaster to deal with, and I don't want to use them if I can avoid it at all.

Hiya

indeed the passenger fuse box ( CJB) which also has the alarm/ immobiliser is coded along with the BCU under the bonnet

plus with the canbus the instrument cluster also is very important

normally the vehicles information is saved before items are removed , then the details transferred into the new units

Apologises as I’m not trying to teach u how to suck eggs , just on the off chance if some of the details may be of use to u

also the key coding is in the CJB, Can’t recode second hand keys in the D3/ sport , always have to be new, there are 30 x key software slots in the CJB so indeed there’s a limit of how many keys that can be synched

( As a side note Second hand D4 keys can be re coded )

pretty sure the BCM and CJB also need to be new , not sure about the instrument panel

if u have a look on the D3 forum there’s a lot of details there which I hope will help, I’ll also see if I can find anymore info out for u

D3 section

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/

there’s also a RRS section

https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/

hope that helps
