You're going to have to be a little more descriptive.

I think you're talking about buttons on the end of the indicator stalk but I wasn't aware that there were different versions of these.
Any chance of a photo?
 
can i fit on with the to buttons on the end...

Its really strange that a DSE from 96 does not have those.

But to answer your question, if you have a high line BECM then I would say it would be real easy to fit them.
To find out if you have a high line BECM just take off the plastic surround to the fuse box cover under the seat and check if there is a big H on the label of the BECM
 
Could it be that the stalk itself currently in the car is in actual fact a replacement part and that someone has simply not fitted the correct one? If this is the case - the connections would all be in place to simply replace the item with a genuine or correct part...

i have the BECM with an big H on . so is it just a matter of changing the indicate arm ??
 
Yeah, hopefully it should just work.

There is a setting in the BECM for whether or not a Trip computer is fitted but I've never seen a High line BECM without it so it should be ok.
