Hi
I am about to change my P38 Car Battery (1997) but have read I may ned to connect to a jumper pack to continue 12 volts running through the car so it doens't reset the system. Is this true or can I just disconnect and put the new one in without any problems. My windows also have come up with a message saying Windows not set any ideas as to how to set these.

Thanks

To reset the windows, you need to open them fully then as quick as you can, press the close until it's fully closed again. Keep hold of the close button until you hear a beep and get a Window Set message. You might need to try it a couple of times before you get it right.

When you have changed your battery you are likely to get a sunroof not set message too
To set the roof open fully, close fully, tilt up,tilt down, open fully close fully - all in a smooth seamless operation - if you have done it correctly message centre will beep and show sunroof set on the last closing stage
As with the windows you may have to do it several times to get it right - I find the easiest way with the windows is just to open/close fully twice as one smooth operation and on the second up you will get a beep and window set message showing

You need to turn the ignition on then off, remove the key and disconnect the battery within 14 seconds or thereabouts otherwise your alarm will go off.

Thanks to all who have replied. I have managed to change the battery using jumper cables to keep the volts going to be safe. All the settings stayed except for the RH from Window says Window not set. I have tried setting this but only tried it once and have noticed you have said to try a few times so I will go back and try this on the way home. Failing that i have read it could be something else so will look that up. Once again thanks for all that replied.
