hi

a quick question

i had my old battery fail in jan 2009 no details on the old battery as was old, whent to an auto factors and ordered a heavy duty one for the old girl, when i compaired the old and new one the new one was about 1 to 2 inches but thought nothing of it, now it is a bit slugish to start the old girl when she has sat for the week some times i need to jump start her if i leave her for any longer.

had the battery tested at a garage and all seems ok, test her before i start her and i have over 12v but she has good compression for her age, if the battery is good it will fire like that, but when cold golw plugs go out and can take upto 5 rotations and you here her getting slower then she fires.

what is the battery size you have on your 300tdi as i think thats all she needs

cheers
baz

The battery size is 072 & the minimum recommended cold cranking amps is 570CCA.

Personally I've got a 580CCA fitted (as I was in a rush to get one), and after a really cold night she is sluggish to start but does always start, try and get the largest CCA battery that will fit.

Make sure the battery has a recessed top - some dont, and the battery clamp may not fit :(.

Or it will look like this and sitting on top of the battery.

thanks it is an 072 battery as for the rest i have no idea but now i know ill get onto my supplyer and get a good one sorted.

while we are on about batterys can i ask, i have a 300tdi with abs and the air intake is right in the way of the 2nd battery tray, i was gonna use the old battery for the aux systems, can this be overcome, and dose anyone have any pics.

also i aim when i get the dosh, to get a safari intake on her would this resolve the problem? or will this still block the 2nd battery tray.

once again thanks for your time
