Hi want to put a larger battery on my 4.6 p38 but all the suppliers want to sell me the standard 70 ah unit, anyone have the number of a larger unit that will fit please

Tell them it's a diesel and they will give you an 107 amp battery that will fit in your battery bay. Simples.

Sorry to resurrect and I'm fairly certain the answer is yes but does this one fit the 4.0 bay? Thanks :)

I managed to kill 2 Alphaline batteries and a Bosch. I have a ballache of a leech somewhere on my wagon. But until I killed the Alpha, it was by far the best battery I've used.

I'm not sure you can still get that one from the Battery Megastore. Someone recently said it wasn't there. Just had a quick look and I couldn't see it. Might be hiding?

The early cars had shorter leads and it can be a bit of a strain to get it in. Also, if it has 13.8V showing @ 2000 rpm then you have the lower set point on your alternator so stay away from anything containing calcium.

From RAVE:

Battery
Type:
V8 072, 72 amp/hr
Diesel 664, 107 amp/hr

Alternator
V8 up to 99MY and diesel Magnetti Marelli A133, 100A, 105A or 120A
V8 from 99MY Bosch NC90/150, 150A

This is it I think? Or the newer model: http://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/product/MF31-1000/

Mine's a 2001 so hopefully leads are fine. Dad left the lights on and drained the battery leading an incredibly tedious phonecall trying to explain the EKA procedure :p
The battery is far too small (~60cca) so someone's changed it in the past so I'm after the Datatek approved beast for the future :)

Wait wait wait. Avoid calcium with the lower output alternator? I assume that means they don't generate the power to charge them?
Things are starting to make sense in the world.

Looks similar. I'll check the dimensions on mine later. Think the terminals are offset towards the rear but your leads should be OK.

Correct. Dammers says the sulphur then builds up and slowly kills then. I've got a fancy charger that I use to give mine a

Now I get why I kept killing Alphaline batteries. They are calcium batteries. Think the Bosch I killed was calcium too.

Will make sure the replacement I get doesn't like milk. Don't think I will be smart enough to start modifying my alternator. Learning is fun. :D
