Now I get why I kept killing Alphaline batteries. They are calcium batteries. Think the Bosch I killed was calcium too.

Will make sure the replacement I get doesn't like milk. Don't think I will be smart enough to start modifying my alternator. Learning is fun. :D

You can get automatic chargers to recondition them. High charge rate for a set time to de-sulfate then a charge. Some are bit on the pricey side though.

I tried using the charger at work. NATO Pro Pallet Charger linky , after 48 hours it came back with bad battery. :/

Well if it's gone to far a suppose nothing will sort it. Method is i think if you look it up 18 volts or so for an extended period up to 18 hrs to de-sulfate. But the battery temp has to be watched. I have a garage fast charger/starter that will run that voltage but as i say you have to watch the battery temp.

I fitted this to my alternator to increase the reg voltage to 14.7. ebay item number 271072108072. £11.99 +3.69 p&p

Looks similar. I'll check the dimensions on mine later. Think the terminals are offset towards the rear but your leads should be OK.

Sorry, forgot about it but for the record...

330mm wide, 167mm deep and 220mm high. Mine has the shorter leads and they only just fit. 130Ah (20hr), 1000A CCA. MF31-1000 from Alphaline.

This is it I think? Or the newer model: http://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/product/MF31-1000/

Mine's a 2001 so hopefully leads are fine. Dad left the lights on and drained the battery leading an incredibly tedious phonecall trying to explain the EKA procedure :p
The battery is far too small (~60cca) so someone's changed it in the past so I'm after the Datatek approved beast for the future :)
That's the one. They don't stock the Alphaline one any more. Although that looks exactly the same, just with a different sticker!
