Stick a spanner on both terminals of the battery if it sparks, welds and makes you go blind a 1st degree burns- then the battery is ok:doh:  :cool2: :smokin: :flame:

whats wrong with wanting to make my own its cost me 4 quid for the bits from maplin. and it will look factory fitted and also when i look at it i can think i made that i can see what my batterys are doing when winching ect ect

I prefer to look at stuff like this and think "I made that" but each to their own, eh?

- Dominic's Journal - Finished the first picket gate

:kettlepot:(Yes, I'm trying to build a web-site and am disguising my blog as a "journal". I promise not to make any more references to people liking to make electrical thingies that they can buy on ebay, as geeks).

somtimes i think that people like domellis ect. carnt understand that making something thats not offted see as a factory look battery monitor, So the people who build challenge trucks are geeks because they build something for a purpose? The like the fact that their tray back is different to the next mans. shall we make a poll saying dont make owt buy it so its like everyone elses. tbh I think thats a little boaring and small minded. fair enuf you brought a landrover why no personalise it? And for the people how do like designing and making things carry on. you know when your at a landy show looking round and you see summat thats different induvidual. Its more than likely someone has gone to the trouble time and thought of doing it. Thats why people like things because their not the same as everyone else??? Any truth in that?

You're not getting me, I think. I do enjoy making stuff (I've bought a Landy!) and understand the satis in getting stuff to work (recently solved an overheating problem by cleaning out all the cooling pipes and replacing the head gasket), I just don't understand making a complicated LED thingy when you can buy a voltage meter of the shelf.
Like I say, each to their own!
As long as you're having fun, enjoying what you do and doing it with pride and passion KEEP ON KEEPING ON!

There's only three componants and then only twisted together. It's not complicated I made one in two minutes as I already had the bits and it works not that i will use it though.
