Hello. I drove fast through a big puddle today and the battery light came on for about 10 seconds, then went off. Presumably some water got somewhere it shouldn't - any ideas where and if it's worth doing something about it, or should I just avoid the puddles in future

it probably got into the belt that drives the alternator and started dlipping so there will have been no charge. Or there is water in the alternator connections and lost charge that way.

If it is the belt you will probably heard a squeel type sounde from it, to resolve it you just need to tighten it up.

Just avoid going through them fast! As James says it would have been a belt slip (more likly) or connection problem...

Aw, but puddles are fun. I'll check everything around the alternator to make sure nothing is looking dodgy. Cheers.

Well get a can of silicone, blast the electrics with it, the back of the alternator etc... to make them resist the water a little better, then drive through them fast while looking out the window, don't look at the light coming on when the belt slips and thats the problem over!

Maybe your belt needs tensioned if its slipping easily...
