First of all hello to you all im new to this site, secondly im hoping someone can help me I have a 2004 freelander TD4 hse with a problem. The problem is that the battery light comes on and off at random, latley more on than off now...I booked it into my local garage as i assumed it was the alternator and so did the machanic but when he fitted the new one after 10 mins the light was back on assuming this new alternator was faulty as well he ordered another and fitted that but again after 10 mins the light was back on so he took my original alterator to a auto electrics centre who tested it and said it was working perfect. He then fitted mine back onto car and tested it it worked fine for 10 mins the the light came on and he tested the voltage and there was none...he said to me its the 12 volt feed that appears to be droppig out but had no idea what was causing this...Does anybody on here know what could be causing this ?

I'm guessing that it's not the alternator and I think that you should take it to another garage that tests things like voltage output before they start replacing stuff.

It could be a weak battery, it could be the wires going into the alt, (with the car running have someone jiggle the wires coming out the alt while you look for the light on the dash) or it could be that you drive one of the biggest pieces of crap ever made by Land Rover.

A web search will enlighten you on all accounts.

Since it's just you and I here now, let me tell you to put your big boy pants on and get ready for a golden shower of **** taking on your choice of vehicles. If you take it with good humor and thick skin, somebody here can most likely help.

If get all squishy and start telling the folks here that you're mad or hurt or suicidal, then well, you'll miss all this misanthriopic site has to offer.

Now f**k off.
