Hi - what is the best replacement battery for Defender 90, Hardtop tdi 2008? Any reasonable supplier to recommend?

Welcome to the forum. I was lazy when I bought mine and just went to Eurocarparts and put in my vehicle details then awaited the delivery of a silver Bosch jobber that they recommended.

Thank you Raywin for sending the ebay link. What is the fitment details for this battery? When I entered the vehicle details which is a standard hardtop 2008 TDi it says "This item does not fit Land Rover Defender 2008 LD [1990-2016] SUV 2.5 TD5 4x4." and does not appear to have many variants. Any thoughts?

one more tip
When I took the old one out I was looking to take it to the council re cycle yard, someone told me to take it to a scrap man in Rippon so I did and the gave me £10, well pleased my 4 year guarantee battery worked out at just over £43

I measured the space in the battery compartment, and it fits in so I ordered, I had to bent the leads a bit but it connects without any danger of shorting, if you like I can try and send a picture.

Thank you Raywin, A picture will be very helpful.
I just called Stratstone in Swansea. They said the batter details are Flooded , VARTA batter for £174 (inc. VAT)!

Original battery is a flat top one so it is a bit different, I sat the new one on a polystyrene tile and clamped it with the original retaining strap, if you go this way take care that the + terminals cannot touch the retaining bracket, I keep meaning to stick some plastic along the top edge of mine to give extra insulation,, for the picture I pulled the red insulator back.
Checked that it is secure and cannot tip over .
Mine is a 2001 TD5 90, so not 100% sure its the same as yours but I suspect it will be.

Just noticed how scruffy it looks in there, ......more jobs to do.

Thanks very much raywin
No Problem.
If you decide to go this way make sure you measure up before ordering and be 100% sure your battery box can accommodate it as mine does, take great care that the + terminal is safe and cannot short on anything, and be sure the battery is clamped down safely so it cant tip or move.

Hello - I just checked the battery and it is not obvious what kind of hold-down type will work. Surprisingly there is no information on the battery type in the manual.
