hey all. really need some fast help. i am getting a drain from my battery over night. it seems that the drain is coming from fuse #1, #4, and #5. the radio speakers are out as i mentioned before in a post but i am at a loss of what is causing this. i plan to replace the radio but really need to get this problem figured out if at all possible as i am suppose to leave on a trip this coming tuesday. as always thanks so much for the help.

thanks a lot guys.. sorry where in the vehicle is the rf box? under the dash, drivers seat, or near the subwoofer?

two last things. what is effected by the rf being disconnected and is this all somehow related to the radio speaker etc. this all started when the shifter broke and i towed it in to have it replaced. they tried to jump it thinking that the battery had gone dead and caused the shifter to lock up. they replaced the shifter and that is when the radio speakers and battery problem started.
kinda driving me a bit mad.. or more mad as the case may be... lol

I think the "tried to jump it" may unfortunately be the cause of these problems....the electronics and BECM are notoriously prone to frying if the car is not correctly jump started......

Preferably in these Rangies, they should rather not be jump started - battery should be replaced or recharged, or if absolutely necessary, jump started by earthing to body only. Many a strange litany of electrical nightmares in RRs has started from a jump start not correctly done......

well put RG,i fried the BECM after trying to start my p38 using a starter/charger,cost 380 pounds to have it put right but that was including the unlocking part as well.

ok... that sounds um.... not good.. how do you know if the becm is "fried" and how does one go about replacing or repairing it.. also.. the fuse 1,4,5 all say there is a problem in the dash... could the electrics on the radio be blown and that is causing everything.. how do you know what and where the problem is... btw all the fuses have been checked and they all are fine. but i was told not to replace the fuses 1,4,5 ... not sure why.
yes i am new to the rr thing so thanks for the assistance.

my BECM problem showed itself by all the lights on the dash not going out, even if there was no key in the ignition,it could manifest itself in all different ways.give irishrover a pm he will be able to help you out.

You get someone who actually knows what they are doing AND has a Rovercom or similar full kit to check out the BECM. (Ie NOT a main stealer!!!! Be warned!!!!)
Irishrover and some other members on here have the kit and can do the BECM for you. Its under the drivers seat and can be removed and posted to someone like Irish to try to sort out for you. The fuse box may also be suspect - check for signs of burning or a smell of burning around some of those fuses, and beware of used fuse boxes if you do replace it - lots of bad uns end up on fleebay.
