Hi

I've got an annoying battery drain that kills my battery after a few day's. I've been searching to see if anyone had a problem specific to mine but cant find anything.

My Rangerover is 1994 Softdash 3.9 with one button alarm fob.

Last night i checked with amp meter inbetween battery terminal and battery post and pulled fuses to find what was causing it. I also had the car locked and bonnet switch in closed position.

LPG draws 26-30mA
satelite fuse 5 draws 20 mA
There is still around 120mA which drops down to about 20mA when i disconnect the alarm/central locking unit.

Has anybody had this fault?

i was haveing the battery drain problem....turned out to be the battery....i do know the terminals have to be real clean...and the grounds grounding....

Had the same problem for about a year now, battery wasn't good so changed it to no effect.
Suspect alarm/immobiliser but haven't done a proper diagnosis cos I don't know how.
As a temporary measure going to plug in a solar panel which will hopefully atleast slow the discharge down.

Ok will try it with the aerial removed.

The battery is not the best but want to get the drain fixed before I replace it so the new battery has a chance.

Hi
I had the same problem with my p38

I disconnected the arial and it solved the problem

The wifi at home kept turning on the computer thingy

regards Daz

well yes..if the alarm/central locking is drawing the power that is killing batt then thats the fault..though 120ma is abit high it aint excessive.will take awhile to kill the batt..

the key fob will work

you will have to be close to the car for it to work

the arial is behind the back seat on the drivers side

a low teck way to find a battery drain is to remove the negative terminal on your battery and with nothing on look for spark when you touch the terminal together..then pull fuses one at a time and look for spark each time...no spark then thats the fuse...i know it sounds kinda crazy..but ive heard it works...

I have answered my own question in the fact that i have found that it is the alarm that is causing the drain.

So no I need to know what my options are as with the alarm unit.

I am wondering if anyone has had the same issue and what there solution was.

Unplugging the aerial seems like a good plan but is it a permeant fix?
