Check my profile for pics on how to do this.......there is no problem as long as you remove the single blue wire only........

Any probs give me a PM....

Just a thought, it takes around a day to drain battery. If I use every day then I have no probs but if I leave it a day, sometimes 2 then it flat.
The last time it did this (today) the mrs said that the indicators were on. Not flashing, just on. I assume this means alarm was triggered. Also the alarm is silent. No noise at all. Could this explain owt? I've been reading through posts and I read someone saying if u don't like to play then this isn't the car for u. Think he may have been right and it's time to get rid. But don't want to. :(

Indicators on does not necessarily mean alarm triggered, just that low volts have caused the BECM to become confused, If the RF receiver is faulty it can still keep the BECM awake even with the blue wire connected. Are you sure you have a battery drain problem and not just a dodgy battery?

Batt brand new. Had same prob with old batt hence new one but still same. When used every day not a single problem. Just when left a day or two.

try this and see, when you get out, open the door, the warning of key in ignition with bing, then take the key out, i had this issue for a bit and it was just the ignition barrel, it soon sorted after a bit of graphite lube. may not be the answer but its a free solution to try for now.

Tried this and everything works fine. Next door neighbour told me earlier that indicators were flashing on n off during early hours. Gunna try the amperage drop test if I can find a post on ere that walks u through it. Cheers for all ur suggestions.

Buy a battery from a dealer. what year is the p38 ? had the same trouble with mine disconnected rf, normal hd battery i e 664 is only 680amps dealer supplied gen battery is 800 amps had no more problems since.

Had batt checked it's ok. Got it from dealer, it's a varta 664 110amp. Was told it was more than adequate. Cost me £120. I bought it cos I had same drain probs wiv last batt. Defo think it's a drain but it's finding it and arr lass already wantin rid so it might be for sale shortly. It's a 99 plate so will that have latest rf?

A 664 battery DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH AMPS IT IS ONLY 680 THE ONE MY DEALER SUPPLIED IS 800 PART NO YGD100860 had the same trouble on my p38, updated rf unit was fitted as far as i am aware from y2000 on have disconnected blue wire on mine and had no more probs no more bat discharge either as i have a 800amp battery fitted and not a 680amp.

99MY almost certainly does NOT have the latest RF.

Ok, what you just said fell on stupid ears. Why would dealer sell me batt which they said is correct one for car if it clearly (as u claim, not that I'm I a position to argue)isn't the right one.

What I feel has happened is I have been royally ****ed.
Bit ****ed off now.

Oh and what is the function of the rf receiver?
Is it purely for fob and if it's decked, could this be why my fob won't sync??

Yes it's just for the FOB and if it's shagged you FOB will not sync. Do NOT buy a replacement from Ebay, they are often old ones put in the new boxes.

Of you sort out the battery drain problem your 664 should be Ok even though it's on the small side.

As i said a664 is not man enough i had one on my 1997 p38 with no probs but when i changed to my 1999 p38 it was not man enough ran down every 3 days spoke to several landrover guys and all said battery not man enough need a 800amp from dealer even several members on here said this changed battery now all ok.

Keep rf wire disconnected, get a fob refurb kit from fleabay about a fiver, get a solar trickle charger from maplins about £20,leave it permamantly connected with panel on top of dash, give the battery a FULL charge, and chances are all will be well, just have to stand right next to the car to use the fob. Worked for me not had a battery drain problem for nine months now after having weekly problems for the first couple of months.
PS AA also told me my brand new battery was Fecked, twas total bollocks.

But sometimes the RF receiver fails completely, in that case disconnecting the blue wire will not stop the problem:eek:
