Battery connected the wrong way

Hi,
Have a good laugh at what I've done : I recently bought my discovery then discovered that the previous owner had fitted the wrong size of battery , it was sitting on top of a brick. Bought the correct battery and fitted it , only the connections were on the opposite side to the one originally fitted. Yepo I connected it up for about 5 seconds positive to end of battery to negative earth. The alarm briefly sounded. I did the job properly and after replacing a couple of fuses the disco started but remote locking , radio, wipers and AC do not work plus the alternator light is not going off. I checked all the fuseable links and they seem okay. Any one else been as stupid as me ? Any help appreciated.:blabla:

I hope i am wrong but....you may have melted a part of your wiring loom.

If fuses are ok, it's likely you have blown the parts mentioned as they all contain electronics. The diiode pack in the alternator is likey shot too.

Thanks for that , it's getting worse as the car won't start now. it sounds like the solenoid has gone in the starter.lol

Oh dear. Try disconnecting it and connecting it up again. I done this once and everything came back to life. Dont know why.

You will have blown the Idiot Diodes.

you will have done the alternator not the biggest of problems and i bet the bcu is not too happy

good news for me, I got the alternator fixed and all the fault codes reset, everything works again !
