In my ongoing RR saga I need to change the car battery as I noticed that whoever changed it last only put a 65amp one in and I beleive it needs to be at least 110amp.

Anyway, what i would like to know is when I change it what am I likely to lose? I know I will have to reset all the windows/sunroof etc and resync the keyfob - but will I need to do anything else?
Mines a 4.0 Gems incase theres a difference
Cheers

Alex .. you'll lose NOTHING if you "SLAVE" it to another battery before disconnecting your old one.......

1. connect Jump leads to Slave battery
2. connect other end of jump leads to battery connections ( Leave yerself
enough room to disconnect the "Old" battery")
3. Remove "Old" battery
4. fit new battery & connect it up
5. disconnect Jump leads at both ends

Get in, start up with NO annoying "Faults" to clear ... TBH I have heard of this being done with a Battery charger but personally I wouldn't risk it yer don't want yer BeCM fried!!!!!

thanks for that hooded, how about if i had to disconnect the old battery entirely before connecting the new one?

Anyone?:smash:
Thats what I ment ...

1. connect Jump leads to Slave battery
2. connect other end of jump leads to battery connections ( Leave yerself
enough room to disconnect the "Old" battery")
3. Remove "Old" battery
4. fit new battery & connect it up
5. disconnect Jump leads at both ends

DO NOT connect the "Slave" to the "OLD" battery Connect it to the BATTERY CONNECTION LEADS OF THE CAR (Just before they connect to the battery) THEN COMPLETELY REMOVE the OLD battery leaving the Jump leads connected to the cars battery leads ( this will power all your systems) THEN install the new battery connect it up then & ONLY THEN remove the jump leads.

None of your systems will have lost power because they were "Powered" by the slave during the replacement...

If your going to just disconnect and replace it, first undo battery clips but leave on,then put your key in ignition, turn on [but dont start] then turn off remove your key and then remove your battery clips within 17 seconds otherwise your alarm will go off.
Now just reconnect your new battery.
But the downside to this is your radio, windows and sunroof will have to be reset, your trip odometer will also reset to zero. But your key should stay synced to the becm and other ecu's
