What is the max size battery i can put in my landy, its a defender 300tdi 1998 model. Can i just put in the battery with the most amps. The weather is now starting to turn cold, at the moment i have a 85amp battery fitted, that is near the end of its life. Its bad when you have to connect to your wife's fiat cinque in the morning to get started. It was a bad day today.......... Help appreciated with this question.

as big as will fit in yer battery box!
just make sure it's got the correct type of terminals on it.
my mate's got a 150Ah tractor battery in his.

Thanks for that, did'nt want to fry anything. :)

Hmmmm...... another Pongo huh?

No matter how gigantic a battery you fit, as long as it is a six cell nominal 12 volt battery you can do no wrong.

AMP-HOURS is the capacity of the battery - like how many gallons do in a tank.

You need a battery that can deliver lots of AMPS to fire up the starter on cold mornings. Most car type batteries tell you the starter current rating. You want your battery to be able to deliver a HUGE current for quite a long time, 'cos you are trying to start a diesel on a cold morning.

Big is good. Bigger is better. The best of all is the biggest one you can fit, that delivers huge starting current.
