Hello chums!

just bought my second defender. It’s on a D, and I ain’t is looking awful, although not much sign of tin worm.

ive always liked things a bit rough and ready (just gotta look at er indoors to confirm that) and for a brief while was looking at doing a rat rod.
Maas wondering what your view is and the practicality’s seems of doing a total bare metal look to a 110? Of course would need sxxt loads of laquer!!

many photos of a110 with this done would’ve gratefully received!

cheers

depends on the level of scruffy yours is, I quite look the faded paint on a well used landy especially the ones with the side stripes from the 80's

for example on a well worn example of a vehicle id personally just give a good coating of clean engine oil with a dash of linseed oil and leave it which is what I'd do with this if I had it

but if you want the bare meal look the dunsfold collection have a bare metal and polished 90 ton their website and tbh it looks absolute gash...

I hear you, but there’s just something that you get from a bare metal look, and I’m looking at some really cool metal custom bits. Ps. Chelsea tractor this ain’t- I’m an arborist and this will do some graft.

Just looking at the Dunsfold bare metal one, and that looks like it’s had a further layer added to it....

can anybody clarify that?

Wrapping don’t last... like a say, I fully expect it to get a lot more war wounds in its stint with me- wrapping can stand the gun fire...

Just looked at that defender. It does look ****, but surely it isn’t road legal? “Panels were removed from press shop, and glued instead of spot welded as it would spoil the finish”?

Lotus Elise’s are glued together with air craft glue ‘‘tis fine

Bare metal is not to my taste but where all different

Put some pics of your one in its current state up so we can ponder over the idea

They have been for some time. My point is the defender was never glued, or intended to be glued, so had all of its “spec testing” done with spot welded panels. If we miss a spot weld at work, that can’t be added manually off the line, then the body is scrapped.

Security, Wheels, Tyres, insulation. seats, suspension, endless improvements out there...
Security- check
Wheels- check
Tyres- check
It’s a good old beast but to me, maybe different to other, but to me, the paint let’s her down. There’s ALOT I’ve got to do to her... that’s for sure, but getting it looking the right way is important...
My V8 is the rough old pig. Here’s a picture from last week.... (my copyright- OK!!!!)

I wouldn't drive down the road like that'' Thats for sure...
See plenty of Pikeys loaded like that but normally in a Transit...

Oh hang on, You're not a country Pikey are you ?

If you did eventually get it shine'y in bare metal it certainly would attract the Pikeys. They love a bit of bling like ferkin magpies...

How many twigs can u get in that trailer?

Joking aside I think Uve made ur mind up n fair play do a project thread on it may pursued others to do the same looks a nice Landy to make what u want of it
