Day 3 of cage fitting! Called in some help as the rear end internal section and finall assembly is pretty much impossible alone.

Finished 6 hours quicker than last time! I suspect with 2 people the whole time I could do this in 2 days easy!

Incredibly pleased and very happy. Looks excellent inside and out.

Now needs a bath! And maybe some panoramic windows......😅

Driven around a fair bit now.

Got a very annoying plastic rattle from the front, seems incidental.

Mislock, easily solved probably nicked or dislodged a door switch

110 certainly feels more rigid, I can feel less flex in the body/chassis when cornering.

Theres a touch more body roll than before, to be expected. Front ARB is staying and may even consider an Eibach one.

Would feel a tiny bit nervous without a rear ARB, so thats staying but will be changed for the X Eng unlockable.

Overall very good!!! Very pleased.

Eventful drive home! Car went a bit "squiffy" pulled over did the normal checks. Even jacked it up and checked wheel bearings etc.. Zero play. Couldnt see anything at all....

So I thought id drive back to the yard for good measure. Drove through the gates and the wheel bearing collapsed!

So bad it had weldedit itself to the stub axle....

Luckily Ive been building up spares in preparation of fully rebuilding the front axle, which was going to be Friday 😅 could it not have held on for 2 more days ffs

New brand new OEM stub, all new bearings, new timken wheel bearings. All new bolts as well.

1hr30 start to finish pretty impressed with that!

Annoyingly the vibration still hasnt gone! So this was either incidental or a contributing factor.

I may also have knocked a wheel weight off ffs. Those sticky ones are dog ****.

Axle rebuild will be Friday.

- Freshly painted axle case with Gywn Lewis HD Diff Pan
- Ashcroft ATB Diff
- New Timken swivel bearings
- New upper & lower swivel pins
- New OEM Stub Axles
- New Timken wheel bearings
- New Britpart Shafts & CVs (ones already in)
- New Teflon Coated Swivels
- New Corteco Swivel Seals
- YRM Stainless swivel retainers
- New steering stop locks
- All new bolts

Think thats everything!! Makes EVERYTHING on the front axle brand new in the last 6 months except the hubs.

Diffs not new but not old either.

If that doesnt stop the steering wobble ill be changing the steering UJ next.

Well that was an exhausting day! So much for my mates 5 hour estimate 🤣

Took about 10 hours including a tidy up!

But all done. Nothing was reused everything is new, or was recently new.

Wasnt too bad getting everything off as it had all come off before...

New and old. Decided to fit the diff to the axle before fitting. Saves the dead lift!

New swivels! Timken of course!

Looking very purposeful!

A doddle to fit, ran a thread chaser through all the holes so super easy to do

No mistakes, no issues and shockingly didnt need a grinder 😂

Swivels on a 3.8kg pull so within tolerance.

Glad thats over with! Hopefully my vibration issue is finally solved. If not i am 100% stumped!

Ready for my Xcess4x4 rear ATB which is due next weeek! 😆😆😆

Did the new front diff pan take more oil to get to the level than the old standard one ?

Bet you change the rear to the same design, we know you like symmetry ;)

Honestly no idea! I just fill with my pump till it drips out but i strongly suspect its about 2L as opposed to 1.7L

Surprisingly not! I only did the front as I needed a new axle anyway. So the rear will just have a wrap around diff guard like everyone else 😅😅

Just did a 60mile drive.

VIBRATION IS GONE! 😆😆

Tracking is wildly out though pulls left aggressively. Will get that sorted Monday.

Lovely having an ATB again. Corners better, handlings better, RTC improved, tractions better! Only having a front one does mean it has a tendency to understeer but can live with that for a few days
