Freelander 1 Banging sound under the body when selecting gear

Hi,
My FL1 is having a Banging sound under the body when selecting gear from 1 to 2 and then starts flashing F and 4 mostly in the morning or when not in use for some hours,when I stop and shift the lever to P and turn off the engine for some minutes then start the engine again and shift the lever to D it shall work properly for the whole day.
need your advice please

You need to have the gearbox codes read, but if it thumps from 1st to 2nd, then it's most likely to be the 2/4 duty solenoid.

Read the codes first though.

Thank you, I will read the code

The banging sound is probably due to the VCU mounts or rear diff mount shuddering on the harsh change, so those could well be worn too.
