Hi There

Thinking of going to Bala Off Road on Sunday. Anyone been? Whats it like?
Its quite a drive from where I live so dont wanna drive all that way if it aint much good.

Also been looking at Buildwas Leisure, but which is about the same distance away for me, so if there is anyone going there on sunday, I may go to buildwas instead.

A mate of mine wants a defender, so I said I would take him out for the day.

Is anyone going this Sunday that I could tag along with?

I might be going to Buildwas, I don't know if Im busy or not yet though, so if you go keep an eye out for a blue and cream series 2a :)

Im gonna be at bala on Sunday. Green defender with white roof and land rover stickers on the side. You will know its me when you see my reg. Say hi!

Been there lots of times before but not going tomorrow (working, among other reasons!). Have fun there. Should be okay. Take some pics. Don't go into the small woods unless you have a winch!!!

I went but got off after an hour, wasnt what i thought it would be.. no big hills to climb or anything and the mac 4x4 challege people were ****ing me off driving round at 2mph haha, i was in a blue 90 with tyre on roof:)

same here been there dont think i'll go back there tho :( think it should be down to £20 per 4x4 then again £15 would be just right :D but hey each to thre own yeah

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as good as cowm quarry.
Ventured into the forest which was excellent, but got a little over confident until a kind gentleman in a disco rescued me with a winch...

As I thought, its been "tamed down" a bit now. I've been a while ago and it was better, and was back there late last year to see a lot of the previous nice tracks really badly cut up, no new tracks but plenty of areas now sectioned off for sheep grazing (its used for grazing most of the year, pay & play 12 times a year and the sheep keep out of the way etc). Silverdale is about the same distance from me, so I'll keep going back there a few more times. It too has plenty of once-driveable routes now badly cut up, but at least you can 'go anywhere' and try different routes. And, its 95% forest, instead of 5%, which makes the inevitible winching so much easier.

has to be said, silverdale really is a great site. the wholeplace is an exceptionally difficult challenge - parkwood/cowm are great great sites but you can drive 90% of them easily - theyre more easy going fun, whereas everytime i find silverdale a bleedin challenge - but thats fun too if youre going for a tough day and youve got a good (read: willing and energetic) winchman with you.

cheers

I had a good time at bala on sunday, for about two hours, then got bored.
Might just stick to green lanes.

Yeah I went cowm on the 27th, was a reallllly good day out :) but i think i expected too much of bala it was more like driving round a field, not much to do as i said.. So i wont be off there again but ya win some ya loose some!

What was you driving Rik?
