Took my 110 out today and noticed that it has developed a pretty bad vibration at between 50 - 60mph. When I say bad, I mean it feels like the damn thing will fall apart! Being stupid I accelerated to 70mph and the vibrations got less.

Vibrations seem to be worse when accelerating hard, but don't go away if you put it in neutral.

Any ideas what this might be?

p.s - have checked tyre pressures and the wheels are balanced.......more or less.....

The wheel nuts are OK - proper ones for the alloy and all tightened up.

To be honest wouldn't know how to check the props, CV and wheel bearings. All tips gratefully received!

Jack the front up and see if the wheels move (not turning) but hold them will both hands and rock the bottom and top they shouldn't have any play! Is there any noises as well

This is how I would do it, may be other ways.
Props, remove one, drive in diff lock, if no change put it back on, take other one off.
bearings, what he said.
CVs usually if you go round a corner with a bit of power on, you can feel the clunk through the steering wheel.
Id go for the UJs on the prop meself...

Thanks for the tips. I will jack the car up next weekend and check the bearings. Away working all week so the 110 will be parked up.

As for noises and vibrations - well there are more than I can list coming from the 110, but most seem fairly normal!

When I do go round a corner, I can feel vibration through the steering, although there is vibration even when going in a straight line, but only between about 50 and 60mph.

As for noise there is a rumbling that sounds like it is coming from the front near side.

Does that give any further clues???

To check CV find an open area put steering on full lock open your window ,if its on the way out you will hear a crunching/ grinding noise when you drive. Do this on both locks.
UJs , get under and twist /push/ pull props and see if there is any play, should be none.

do what blue beasty says, my 110 was same turned out to be the rear prop, 20 min fix with the right tools

Thanks everyone - looks like I've got some detective work to do. I'll let you know what I find out........hopefully something minor and inexpensive....
