hello boys and girls
iv just got meself a freelander td4 2003 im havin problems starting it hot or cold it takes a while to start .
anyone help

Try asking in the freelander section, there is also a freelander engine section aswell now.
Start by checking the condition of the battery and by putting some redex (fuel system cleaner) in with the diesel, check that your air filter is clean, maybe change the fuel filter and check that the fuel pump is working properly. Could also be a fault with the injection system.

as howardo suggested, I would look at the injectors first. This was the first sign of impending injector failure on mine.

an injector cleaner might work. always used to use redex, but just tried millers power sport 4 and it seems quite effective in so far as it smoothed out a misfire I had.

good luck

thanks for your help bad news is iv taken the freelander back it was getting worse to start and when you got it up to 45 to 55mph there was gray/blue smoke poring out used 1/2 ltr of oil in 40 miles.so rang the bloke up and he took it back.
back on the look out for another now (bugger)
