bad knocking

hubby owns a discovery 1 Land Rover discovery 1 which has started having a loud knocking noise but can’t work out where it coming from can anyone shed some light

Think we will need more info, noise from engine or noise when driving. Could upload a vid to a hosting site then
copy the link. Location might help too if there is a local member willing to have a wee look.

Crystal ball is a bit dusty, but it seems to be saying a bearing in the transfer box might have packed up.

Mines fell into bilge so im having a stab at a prop shaft.

Was he passing a train of cycling tour group. Possible he picked up a stray trying to attract your attention.

We have put new vaccum pump on today made no difference

You need to crack the inj pipes one at a time, and see if the noise stops when you loosen any of the pipes.
Then you will have an idea what cyl to look at.

Check valve clearances, if any are way out let us know.

Screwdriver on yer lug hole & onto the rocker cover or wherever you want to listen to (injectors ect) you should be able to pin point where its coming from.

Slack tappet or iffy fuel injector… maybe.
