well it was all going so well but the landy has now developed a mis fire on one of the cylinders. It has new leads, dizzy is tip top, new sparks, coil pack etc. The cylinder that is missing is causing the sparkplug to go black but not gungy.

Any help could it be just a sticky valve or bad cylinder lining maybe???.

Will try swapping the spark with another but is unlikely to be that.

Got the mot on wednesday so ideally would like a 4 cylinder engine.

cheers for any ideas

well pretty sure that it was over fuelling so tried to adjust the mix and of course being a landrover the screw is knackered(bent previously? and for some reason solid in the casing). The mix bolt snapped than every effort to get it out resulted in the carb getting ruined....

so, does anyone have a zenith iv carbueretor they would like to sell please, would get away with just the lower half of carb if not complete ??

looks like im not getting an mot on wednesday

Your carb is still feeding the fuel to the manifold and thus to the engine, so that is probably not where the trouble lies.

Have you swapped your plug lead for one of the others? It sounds as though it may be either a duff lead or a build up of **** on the contacts in your distributor cap.

dizzy is really clean and properly set up will try swapping leads when i get a carb cheers
