Back window fell down? how to fix??

Hello,
Hopefully someone might be able to offer me some advice on this one...
My back window drop glass on my TD4 (03 plate, 5 door) wound down earlier but failed to wind back up. i can hear the electric motor making a noise like it is moving something but the glass stays where it is. I managed to put my hands on each side and force it back up and the car sleeps in locked garage so not to concerned but can't leave it parked anywhere now because if anyone touches the glass it falls back down...
Not sure it the glass can come off its mounting or not, if so i suspect this may of happened but the question is how do i fix it, was gonna take door car off one night this week and see what i can see but thought I'd ask on here if anyone has experienced a similar prob and how they fixed it?

prob needs new window actuator kit

as a temporary fix, take the cover of the tailgate inside, and wedge the glass nearly all the way to the top using wooden dowels or similar (i used plastic MT2 minitrunking when mine snapped cos I was at work)

sounds like the cable has snapped, take the cover off, then the plastic sheet. should be able to find cable flapping around like a beached fish.

I took the door card off to take a look, cut the plastic sheet away and found metal cable everywhere. I assume should be neatly round the white pulley thing? well, its not! its all come off and tangled round everything, cable is also badly kinked and frayed it places so i guess i need a new one of these? I've took the advice on piece of wood to keep window up, that works a treat, also disconnected motor to prevent any further damage. My next question is what is the part i need and any ideas how to fit? does the whole motor/pulley thing come as one part? i phoned garage i usually use but they want £160 ish to sort it so think the bit of wood might be staying in for a while..

Ooow, one more thing i didn't make clear in origional post is it is the back door (to back seats), not the boot door (tail gate)
