i posted this in the introduce yourself when I joined and have today got my vehicle back on the road
I decided to buy four weeks ago a 2006 Range Rover Vouge for £4250 it is fitted with the AJ8 engine has 110,000 miles silver in colour all standard as far as I can tell first two weeks fantastic then battery issues new battery fitted then starting issues with key fourth week it is now in pieces due to a (possible) fuel pump fault whilst trying to start starter failed upon stripping it has turned out to be a broken starter top bolt which allowed starter to loosen and the main power cable to snap from starter new parts will order Monday and try again to repair in the week
I am not put off by this though as it still seems to be a great vehicle just a bit unlucky it was cheap though
Today I finally got to work on my broken vouge the power lead was £181.00 + vat So i removed the power leads and a friend made a new starter connector and soldered it to the cable I removed broken bolt from bell housing took a couple of hours struggling on axle stands and little room fitted a new starter as connections had part melted (lucky no fire) and the repaired cable not much room to get to starter but after much twisting it went in connected up and hey presto a live and kicking Range Rover no fault codes all my problems down to poor previous workmanship now only some rounded off bell housing bolts to renew and torque up now a proper test drive will have to wait till Tuesday
