back box !!

Just been out for lunch - come back to work and I think " the exhaust seems to be blowing a bit"

Look underneath and notice that the backbox has snapped off !!!

right at the U clamp where it joins the middle section.

Only place that has one in stock is kwik Fit for 71.90 fitted

or

my local parto factors who have them for 55 plus vat (obviously id have to fit it)

Only advantage of kwik fit I suppose is if it has snapped on the middle section rather than the back box - they have a middle in stock.

baked bean can and two clamps will do for a short time - else yu can buy "repair kits" which shd see yu thru fur a few weeks if necessary.

I was just coming on to say mines just gone and how much, thanks for the info. Has anyone fitted an alternative to the backbox as standard and how was it? I was thinking of a straight pipe where the box should be or one of those fancy low restriction boxes. Its an L series.

Paddocks seem to be a good bet at 33 quid for the backbox (plus VAT)

I have seen somebody on some forum with the back box removed and replace with a motobike type exhaust. Added advantage was much more underfloor clearance and a more interesting exhaust note.

Maybe a cheaper box could be purchased and fitted for less.

Cheers I have a look at costings and go fo it I think.

I also remember an article in LRO which replaced the exhaust rubbers with Defender items to reduce rattle etc.
