I was registered some time ago,thought I'd say hello again, not entirely new to Landrovers, not long finished a full rebuild of a 1993 Defender 90, I said I would not do it again, but I am seriously thinking of looking at a series 111 for rebuild something between1972 and 1977, (quite like the idea of free tax). Will be in touch to ask probably to ask many questions.
 
Welcome. Hope you are able to source a decent S3 for a project. They're pretty straightforward mechanically. Problems of rust are the same as Defenders:

Thanks John, have seen some great information on improvements to heaters, and general comfort, haven't mentioned this to her indoors yet, will have to make up some brownie points before then.
 
My excuse is convincing that the landy is actually essential transport (for me) cos the kids use the second car and she has the main one.A win win sort of approach .
 
Good idea, it's all about timing, I broke the news today that I was thinking about another restoration, it was my birthday, I reckoned that they cannot shout at you on your birthday, seems to have worked so far, still I don't think the subject has been dropped.
