The only reason a lock and load is approved as child seat safe is because it doesnt fold in an impact.
Minibus seats are approved for child seats, otherwise they wouldn't be fitted in child carrying minibuses.
They have integrated belts, the seat backs are stronger than the front seats, if you ever remove a front seat look how small the securing bolts are for the seat rails.
You can attach a rear seat securely, in fact i have attached the seats more securely than other rear seats i have had in the past. If you buy a rear seat for your landy whether bench or whatever you get a few small bolts. If you attach your seats with large bolts and spreader plates then it will be more secure than standard fitments!
If you buy some rear folding forward facing seats they are deemed safe, you ask exmoor why you can't use a child seat with them it's only because the seat could fold. The lock and load just purely locks so it shouldn't happen.
So what's the problem with fitting an approved car/minibus seat, in the same position as a foldup forward facing seat, with stronger fitments?
Looking at it from the other angle, the seats in a minibus are either slotted into rails or bolted to the floor, so i can't see whats any different adapting this to a landy?
Don't get me wrong defenderdavie, i would have loved some lock and loads, but we just haven't got that kind of money, and i don't feel i have compromised any safety and anyone who has seen them would agree.
