A customer came in today with a noise coming from the near side rear, my first thought was the wheel bearing but nooooooo

So yeah ... New discs required haha :D

I wasn't in high hopes for the chassis on this 90 before I removed the crossmember

Hmmm rear crossmember is absolutely shot

Gearbox crossmember area shot

Front chassis legs not in a healthy state

New chassis time for this one I think

Just out of interest how much parts and labour would it cost for installing a new chassis on a mk1 disco?:D

Depends what you want doing, this ones having all new springs, shocks, bushes, I've just done the clutch and rear crank seal too so it's having quite alot of work done, the customer said, 'do whatever needs doing I want it to last another 15 years easily'

The chassis swap I'd being done for around 3000 including the chassis and bushes may be slightly more

Is it worth it for a D1 ? This 90 is very tidy on top and everything else is perfect apart from the chassis so will easily be worth 6K by the time I'm done

Here's a few more pics of the chassis on the one I'm replacing, well too far gone to patch up

So desperately needed a chassis

The wings are off all the other body connections to the chassis are undone just gotta lift it off in the morning then set to with the swap.

It's having all new springs, shocks, bushes and then rebuilt back up, I'm not touching the body though as its pretty damn good anyway :)

I could but it requires a whole new rear crossmember and serious patching at the gearbox crossmember plates about a foot long if not more and then you're just chasing your tail as its corroding badly around the spring mounts so it would need a new chassis soon if I did patch it its just not worth spending hundreds on it patching only to replace in a year or two anyway :)

Haha will do :) hopefully the bushes will arrive tomorrow so I can crack on and get all the suspension done and get it all built up sharpish I'm hoping to get it done by the end of the week if all goes well, I know I've gotta do 2 small patches on the bulkhead footwell but that's about all extra I've found. It's still EGR'd ATM so I'm gonna ask him if he wants it removing :D
