Got the series 2 stripped down now and its definitely been put onto a later military chassis- when I say later I mean mid 1970's at a guess by the number.
Got a box of goodies to rebuild the axles- all imperial which means its pre about 1980 anyway- but it occured to me after I made the order that the check straps would be too short given the extra height of the military chassis.
Sure enough they are about 3" too short does anybody know what the part number is for the proper ones, I can't find it.
Cheers
RJ

As a stop gap you can bolt the shorter ones on by the bottom bolts only. You can buy the strap loose and make your own, I had a similar problem and ended up getting some second hand, as the lift is 2" its a reasonable guess that the lenght is plus 4". Search under "balata belting"

Ok thanks I'll check that out. I won't be using this one off road if I can help it so I could live without them but I would rather have them for the sake of completeness.

No not had a chance yet, back to work now so might be a while till I get the axles rebuilt.
If you come up with a solution first let me know how you got on
Thanks

Making some up from balata belting is an option, as rob suggested. I can work out how long they should be by jacking the chassis up, fitting the shocks on at a touch below max extension, then measure around the axle and strap bracket.. I'd like to know why these ones I just bought are too short though.. :D
