i've got two old avon routemaster 650x16's with loads of tread but are cracking a bit on the sides.
Any suggestions for cosmertically filling the craks without having to raid the wife's makeup box!
Mot coming up

toss them!! yer sides are the weakest part of a tyre and when they crack they are pretty dangerous, very prone ta blowout. take a big breath, swallow a couple times, wipe away yer tears an cough up 4 new wuns mate.

crack like this

oh dear. oh well thanks gents. the rear has two good goodyear super hi-milers from an ex-military half ton trailer. know where i can get same tyres?

My 600x16 avon traction mileage tyres have cracks on them, and there only 7 years old which is a shame.. anyway both our tyres are cross-plys which have inner tubes, which won't blow out.. personaly in my opinion they are fine.

yes they will, if the crack goes all the way through the tube will push into the hole and then it will get pinched and boom, i have rangemasters on my 109" and i had a blowout due to cracked sidewalls

wow, im glad you dont give me a lift. yes there are tubed but its not that simple. the tyres have cracked because they have dried out. this means they have lost their elasticity, therefore when using them on a road or any otjher surface there is no give in them. where a tyre in good condition would give a little these will simply split a bit more until the split actually tears off a piece of the tyre, leaving the inner tube exposed and i can guarantee you that within 10 mili seconds of the tube being exposed it will blow out. ffs use your brain before offering advice on things you know nothing about
