Autobox Fluid topup

I have a 2,5DSE 1998.

In the handbook it describes how to check the gearbox (automatic) fluid level. Pretty sure I understand that bit. But in the Handbook, and the Manual I have, it does not describe how to top up if required. On the post 99 boxes there is described a level/fill plug. But on the ones with the dipstick (perhaps thats me) there is no decription of how to put fluid in, do you put it in thro' the dipstick pipe?

Yes. Check level with engine COLD!!!

Start car with bonnet open, move selector from P thru to 1 and back again, check level with engine still running. If between low/high LEAVE alone, if top-up needed fill slowly thru dip-stick neck. Allow 30secs between fill to check level and again P thru 1 and back.......... DO NOT OVERFILL!!!!
