it does take alot!

try yer local motorfactors, I am sure they will be able to sort you some comma stuff nice and cheap!

Used the Castrol Fluid finder to identify the correct types, and it states 2.7 ltr for Manual transmission & 9.7ltr for automatic. I know if just draining & replacing it will not replace all of it, but either way I thought that was a lot as well.....

You need around just over five litres four litres cannot be drained it is in the torque converter. 9.7 L is from dry not for an oil change.

How simple is it to do this job? I have to admit I haven't even looked into it, but my RR is now over 98k miles so I guess I should consider it soon? What sort of milages were yours when you did it? Is there an idiots guide out there anywhere?

If yours is the one pictured, the L332 needs according to Land Rover special fluid which cost an arm and a leg. It has a much higher boiling point than the normal stuff i think.

I don't know when it was changed last, I wiould need to look at the service books.....I bought it 12 months ago, so longer than that........

What would I be letting my self in for? I am planning on replacing the filter etc also....

which is why you should ideally change it again after about a week or say 500 miles. that's an absolutely random figure by the way, choose your own. the idea is that you've just diluted old oil with new in the first change to about 45:55. Doing it again reduces old oil to about 25:75 (or as close as dammit). however this would then mean that you do indeed need about 10 - 12 litres of ATF.
