Just lost my 2001 td5 disco 2 due to a crash and am looking to replace it with another. Would really like an Automatic but am a bit frightened of them after lashing out loads on a previous auto car { renault } Are Landrover more reliable and are there any pitfalls to watch out for when buying one? What mileage usually brings problems/ Thanks.

a friend of mine has an auto td5 and i have the manual, personally i prefer the manual as the auto's seem a bit "revvy" to me before gear changes. But different people find different way to float their boat:D

Looked at one yesterday. When revving the engine there was a distinct whistle to it like maybe a turbo fault? On the road test performance seemed a bit sluggish as if it was struggling through the gears with the same whine/whistle noise when revved. Is this a turbo problem you think and if so would it be big dollars to repair? Supposedly 88.500 on the clock.
