I have a 2000 P38 diesel which has developed a problem with the gearbox ! This happens when climbing hills & also when attempting to overtake even on the flat. The rev counter goes to 4000 revs & there is no power at all.

The gearbox struggles to change into the correct gears.

Is there any adjustment i can do on the autobox or could it be internal ??

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

No adjustments possible. Put it on diagnostic and see if there is a fault showing other than that, mechanical. Check oil if it's dark maybe a clutch slipping. Oil change, filter change some Lucas stuck in may improve it, if it's not too far gone. Could be sticky valve block.

Wammers is correct these gearboxes are a little troublesome should get an oil and filter change every 40k miles or so if you check the oil and its burnt change it check the filter aswell for bits of metal.. if its just started to happen u might be able to save it treatment helps aswell if the valve is sticking.. otherwise slipping clutchs... hope this helps..
