Auto Gearbox Help Please.....

serial numbers are unique so you'll never find one with the same number

They're both pr005 boxes so thats not the problem. Maybe they just don't want to fit a second hand box in case it won't work as in it's faulty not different.

look if yer gunna mess around fitting an auto gear box ,dont penny pinch get a reputable recon . . . . .nuffing else

Having a freelander with an auto box thats gone wrong I've had to find out alot about this subject.

1. Don't buy one from a breakers, auto boxes usually give up the ghost around 80,000 miles (solenoids usually), do you know the mileage on the one your getting?

2. It's going to cost alot of money, don't make it worse than it's going to be.

3. Do what Ming says, don't skimp get it done properly.

Sorry, I doubt that's what you wanted to hear, but been there done that.

@ 925 + VAT, or nearly £1100, + fitting...

Ashcroft have a few places that fit the auto's on the Freelander v6. The best option the op has is to trade in his scrappyard auto for one of ashcrofts recon units. You get a refund on yours, as long as it's the same model and with a torque convertor. This way he'll be buying and fitting and auto thats been tested. Thats a working torque converter, working mechanicals, working electrics inside and working hydraulics etc. It's a days work to get one removed, and the recon fitted. After having an auto replaced, I appreciate the cost involved, and certainly know of the problems afterwards when you want to take it back. Knowing it works in advance is the only option.
