:D Thanks for the kind words, the whole reason for me wanting a Landrover Discovery was the fact you can work on them yourself, it's a big vehicle for carrying my friends and kit to events, and its a Landrover! :cool:

ok a TD5 wasnt one of the best decisions due to the electronics but I've always fancied one, and theres a lot of parts/help around which I can't say the same for Mitsubishi!!

Between you guys/girls here, some other websites, Haynes manual (on occasions), few Landrover enthusiast friends, and a few Landrover specialists in the area I feel comfortable in the knowledge that what ever the problem someones around to help, and hopefully I can pick some things up as I go along..and hopefuly one day return the favour to those requesting help!

As for slitting my wrists, I wont be doing that..unless the dam sunroof leaks again :frusty::lol:

Thanks for the advice/info, will keep you posted as to the outcome, just hope it's going to be an easy fix.. got plenty of other fixes/mods to be getting on with.

There's nothing wrong with TD5, but they do need pro-active maintenance which they almost never get, from peeps who just run them as cars, rather than an LR enthusiast.

Once you've sorted out the years of neglect (irrespective of what the service history might suggest) you'll have a fine machine.

I'd like to class myself as an amature Landrover enthusiast.. I'm not one to stand back and let a fault progress, major issues get sorted asap, minor issues get sorted when I have chance - but tbh I'm a bit anal about some minor issue, i.e. the sunroof.. really bugs me, to the point I've spent a good few days trying to sort it out, and spending a bit of cash trying to resolve.. never liked the idea of sealing the sunroof completely!

The moto I try and stick by is "if it is fitted to the vehicle, then it should be working!".. exception to this was the ACE which was faulty when I purchased my vehicle (unknown to myself), and the garage said it could cost anywhere between £500-£2k to fix depending on the issues they come across whilst attempting a repair.. at which point I opted for standard anti-roll bars as I couldn't afford such a hit at that time :(

On a brighter note, I popped to the garage today, followed the advice given regarding the proceedure for changing the transmition fluid and it took a bit more fluid, the clunk noise when engaging reverse has quietened down a lot! more of a softer clunk/click so I think all is well.

I checked the documentation/ bottles of fluid (as he still has the empty ones), and it is the correct fluid in the following:

Comma :: Home Page

2x Diffs: SX75W-90 GL-5
Transfer box: SX75W-90 GL-5
Automatic Transmition: ZF 4HP22/1: AQM

Thanks for the info/advice.. another job done, a few lessons learned, and a bit more cash parted with. :p

cheers.
