Hi I have 2005 Freelander 1 2l td4 auto
Could someone please let me know where the drain plug is I've found the fill and level but not 100% on the drain plug
going of the videos I've seen
Thanks Daz

@andyfreelandy - I normally wouldn't bicker with you, but in this case I'd suggest you maybe "play nicer" with some new guys like Dazzer here, simply clicking his profile he went through the channels, introduced himself in the appropriate subforum, has obviously done some of the homework, then asked for some advice. Your reply read as being flippant and annoyed with dazzer, I think he's showing signs of being one of us, an enthusiast, and as such deserves/d a slightly warmer welcome?

This post has some useful sections from the official workshop manual for you. PLease note the ATF filler plug is the rubber bung at the top of the gearbox near the front, beside the multi-plugs, not the obvious looking candidate on the back of the box (which is actually the reverse band retaining bolt), and the level procedure is, as you possibly know, undo the small plug next to the cable shifter mechanism, pour in oil from the top through the filler port until it comes out the level plug on the bottom. I stress this as it's counter intuitive, normally the level plug is on theside at the level you want the oil to be at....

Any problems let us know, one of us will help you, and FYI, Andy is 99.9999% much friendlier than this, it either reads wrong, or he was having a bad day. Cheers /Jay

Purely banter to show how easy it was to find!! Most things are on the forum, very happy to point anyone in the right direction (as in this case!)

Welcome and apologies!!

Things are usually found on the forum, but the forum search is not the best way of finding it often. A google search is usually better at finding the threads.

Hopefully this will help the OP which most likely he as done the job now, even though it may help others, the R40 as the same auto box.
