Damn thing!!

Just driven a 120 mile round trip, kept noticing the smell of oil, but it didnt smell like engine oil more like transmission. Had a look under the car when i stopped but due to the snow couldnt see a thing. 10 minutes from home and another strong smell of oil, stopped at a junction and the car barely moved off, m and s lights flashing away so i pulled over, switched car off and on and the fault cleared. A few minutes later i noticed that the transmission high temp light came on for a few seconds.

Pretty obvious i have a leak so will get it booked into to be checked. Should i worry about any damage that may have been caused?, as it runs now it changes gear fine and there are no unwanted noises, fingers crossed it will be ok.

So just picked it back up from the garage, they plugged into test equipment which showed a fault, which they said points towards the torque converter. They filled up the gearbox which was only 50% full but there are no leaks from the box. They said it looks as though the gearbox has overheated and the fluid had come out of the breather.

The car seams to run fine, no hesitation on gear change, nice and smooth, and no noises.

Not sure what to do now
