Austin/Morris Mini - anyone clued up?

Minis are easier to chop and change than Landies, my first car was an Austin Mini City 1000 1979 (v plate). It had a 1275 'lump' dropped in, Monte Carlo paintwork and decals, gold alloys, cherrybomb exhaust. Looked the nuts and drove like a go kart! Needed to sell it for the money, but I'd absolutely love another one!
 
FACT: The Mini 1275 GT only ever came with a clubman front. The Mini shown is not a GT.

So could just be a standard mini with the arches added on?

Probably just a standard 998cc too! By that time the Chassis Number should be stamped in the rain channel surrounding the engine bay, just infront of drivers side of windscreen.

Can recommend SC Parts, Mini-Sport and Minispares are fantastic if you decide to go for it!
 
Don't worry too much about it - it wasn't a special edition, cooper or a 1275GT. The clubman 1275 GT (square nose) came along when BL split with J Cooper as a sporty replacement, and as has been said, they were all clubman square nosed. The round nose cooper returned in the 90's (iirc) under the Rover Mini badge, and as this one had an Austin badge on the grille along with late Rover Sportspack/Cooper arches (or copies of), then it wasn't original. If it had 13" wheels then it had been butchered for sure.

Also as has been said already it is almost certain to be a 998cc unless that's been swapped too, so don't be too upset..
 
Im sure if you look on the bay you could pick up a restored one for not much more than that. I should have done that but im now spending loads on restoring my one.
