It works OK here and refreshes too. Wierd. You may be able to drill
down to it from the BBC news Scotland page. It shows a picture that is
definitely a converted truck body.

Funny that my former Range Rover Peggy was, according to the V5 a British
Leyland Land Rover Range Rover. I had to arm wrestle the biddy in post
office to persuade her not to put BL on the tax disk. I was surprised to
find that the car was built ( best to say converted in view of the owner )
by Ogle Design http://www.oglenoor.com/History 8.html and they did also
build a Leyland Truck based Popemobile so some researcher appears to have
combined the description. Good website an amazing what they had a hand in.

It was the Leyland Wagon based one (made £37,000). Dad knew Mick
pretty well (both interested in vintage vehicles and local to
Dumfries). Bought one or two bits from him on behalf of other mates who
were restoring wagons. The little museum he ran was dedicated to Albion
wagons, but his spares collection covered allsorts (lots of parts on
old commercials are interchangable anyway, so I'm told). The
cataloguing of the sale was bloody shambolic and still ran to over 3000
lots. Estimated 500,000 items in total.
Didn't hang around for the auction coz there wasn't anything that we
could have used...
Cheers, Scruff.

Never knew there was a car museum in Dumfries. I knew of the one in
Glenluce, but only been to the aviation museum in Dumfries. (I live just
west of there)

The problem I have with Glenluce is friends running pubs B&B and suchlike
between that fishing and shooting I never actually get into tourist mode.

It wasn't teally a car museum, but one for the Albion trucks.
At one time Mick wanted to build a pretty major transport museum, which
IIRC would have included the aviation museum (did you know their site
is under threat?? The new owner of the Heathall site is trying to drive
their rent through the roof) as well as cars, bikes & WHY (he also
wanted to include steam trains, and maybe a link to the Paddy line).
D&G council deliberately torpedoed the planning application by putting
on really unreasonable constraints (like 3/4 of a mile of footpath
between the Brasswell site and the Annan road roundabout - which
probably would never have been used).
At the time it seems they wanted total control of all of the counties
museums. It would have been a fantastic asset in Dumfries, especially
since there isn't anything else to attract tourists into the town
(other than, of course, the sainted ****head Rabbie Burns).
Bloody shame really...
Cheers, Scruff.
PS as you can probably tell I was (and still am) greatly in favour of
the idea

What's that? Nothing interesting in Dumfries, you say? Why, there's...

There's...

Um...

You're right, it's the arse-end of the universe.

I think I may be in agreement with you. I'll have to nip in to the
aviation museum next time I'm back, see if I can help spread the word.
