Just a quick question, im after some tyres. Now there isn't anything wrong with them, they were new when I got the car. But I was wondering if there is much difference between road tyres and ATs. The thing is I have my first baby on the way and after last winter my freebie got sideways on a bend in a bit of snow. So was thinking weather to spend a bit on some ATs if it's worth it.

I changed to General Grabber AT2's on my older hippo,

I liked them, they were great off road but theres no match on road as proper road tyres, dont get me wrong they were ok on the road but not as much grip as normal road tyres, so handeling wernt to good.

Just got a new freelander sport which comes with 18" road tyres, and id never go back to AT now, i love chucking it about, couldnt do it with A.T tyres fitted.

I wont be takin my sport off road so there was no need for them on my new car.

but cant say a bad thing about them as an AT tyres, the grabber AT2's where damm good for both on and off road use.

:D

Although I drive a Disco 1 I can highly recommend General Grabber AT2 tyres, only time they let go last winter was on sheet ice, otherwise they were great.

That may of been your driving style as well though, not the tyres.

Could of been ice under the snow, no tyre is any good on sheet ice!

I use Falken LandAir A/t on a 15" steel rim and notice no real difference between that and the Bridgestones that were on before it, other than off road. The AT will self clean better than a road tyre (but not as good as a M/t), so as the tyre spins it easily chucks out the mud or snow and is clean as it hits the mud/snow again.

To be fair I am planning on doing some green laning soon and I know road tyres would be crap for that. I'm thinking of BFG ATs to be honest, so just want an all road good tyre for green laning and a bit of snow and bad weather if we get it.

I'm just wainting for a quote for a set of 16" alloys and AT2s to stick on my '06 TD4. If the price is right, I'm having them.

With this winter set to be just as bad as last, if not worse, I aint risking it (or should I say, I just wanna have some fun!!).
