AT Tyres and Snow

4/12/10 & 10/10/12.

I haven't read the full posts but one is missing the 't' in amount and the other is a paragraph which
starts '&'.
Otherwise, your three pages of posts look pretty good on SP & G.

I therefore suggest a lack of common sense regarding tyres.

I trust you'll see this post tomorrow; it being 2307 now, feel free to P.M. me if you want.

Yours,
Bushwwacker. (I am aware of the 'w' instead of an 'h')

what, exactly do yu mean by that?

idiots driving a 60 on ice n snow, cos " I am in a 4x4" is as stupid as a rangie sport driver on low profiles driving a mud bath - "coz its a 4x4"

A disco owner and member since 2010 albeit with a limited number of posts but access to the full site.

I was being sarcastic.

:)

Park it in the drive, take the day off work and let the neighbours dig their own cars out :cool:

Even if you dont get stuck or crash some other muppet will run into you :D:D

Very true Sue, but I don't want to miss any fun :)

Bushwwacker all I can do is laugh at you, true keyboard warrior.

I decline to engage in battle with you as you will just drag me down to your level and beat me with experience.

Ha Ha Ha... There, I've laughed at you, now I've moved on.

No worries.

Your cooperation has enabled me to climax.

Thank you and if you fancy starting a pointless thread tomorrow night, feel free. I enjoyed myself.

Mitchelin M+S small blocks with sips on each one are VERY good in the snow. Some AT are terrible. BFG's AT's are good. Some other tyres such as pirelli scorpions are shockingly poor in the snow (std fitment to older discos).

Forget lowrange just use difflock as its intended.

Me Me Me....
I got them on the back axle,
agree - work very well,
got a pair of khumos on the front, near new pair just a few months ago replaced the previous pair.
As I dont do much offroad, or laning, never tried deep mud in ernest, but after 3 or so years with my current tyre set up,
I`m happy enough.

a Question for our most learned on studed tyres,
why Ilegal ??
thought as being in the EU we can use the same laws as say germany with studded tyres..

Not sure I he used mitchelin xcls studded in the snow fooking brilliant!

The pirelli scorpion std disco firmest was like driving a skateboard changed to BFG all terrains and its like night an day

My first driving experience in snow was Afghanistan minus 20 rock solid truck tires yank spelling I know on a hylux lots of lessons learnt quick crashing or screwing up wasn't an option. Being stranded in a mine field never did appeal!

I'd put Pirelli scrap ions on
Par with bald truck tyres Inthink the main prob is width whereas mitchelin has a much better tread pattern for all round use and narrower

My old man was a test driver for Renault trucks and he took me out after I passes my test in his RRC with mitchelins on at night and really really threw it about never seen my old man drive like that he was ALWAYS super slow smooth but the tyres they were 100% predictable whereas others I've driven would just lose all grip and your now controlling a sled at 5mph. If I was driving on snow alot I'd invest in a set of mitchelins in a heart beat apparently the older pattern used on really early RRC were very good also.

Spyderman has a set of snow tyres
For his series had some plonked in a disco telling him he shoul buy better tyres as them "road tyres" we're
Never going to work him on cheap manky coley MUDs

Well thanks to everyone for their replies.

Conclusion is I will stick with my all terrains this winter.

I know I know, tyres don't replace common sense.
