all paint has some kind of solvents...

got some water-based primer that's alleged to prime anything for anything,
so I'll stick that on the roof first before the top coat and see what
happens. Of course, by the time I'm finished I'd have done better to strip
the whole thing and do a proper repaint, but that's no fun.

well, it's not called Uniblock, but it's the same idea I reckon.
water-based, stick to anything, paint with anything...

onyl paint I've found so far that sticks without complaint to silicone
sealer. can't be bad...

we shall see, in due course, if it lets the top coat go on nicely.

dries in about 5 minutes, too. well, touch dry. says 1-2 hours on the tin.
weather forecast not good for topcoat, which is fairly slow drying.

Neither do I, but I would suggest Marmite* would be better on your toast.

If Your specification is vague or imprecise, you'll likely get what you
asked for not what you wanted!

Do not say it cannot be done, rather what is needed for it to be done!
