Hi guys,

Some numpty broke the ariel mount on my 03 Freelander. Ordered one off Rimmers (part no XUC100832) and replaced it.

However when I looked at the old one, it seemed different, smaller and had a detachable rubber base. Should there be one for XUC100832?

Here are photos of the old ariel mount.

As you probably realized the rubber base is a gasket to prevent water getting in under the ariel mount and into the roof lining. I would have expected a new mount to be supplied with a gasket and would query it with supplier. If you cant get one, some careful application of black silicone around the mount may suffice.

isn't there 2 versions? one for satnav and one for without.Would that account for why your new one looks different to old one?

Thanks for the replies.

musky81: I'll nip in to local LR dealers tomorrow and see if I can get one. This one came from rimmers.
TriumphDave & teddywood1: I believe there are 2. My Freelander does't have satnav and the part I ordered was for non-satnav. It may have been replaced before with the sat nav one, but I don't know what that looks like.

if it is tightened properly it will not need any sealant that is what the rubber bottom is for I will try to have a look at mine tomorrow I have the satnav I know the antenna is different. hope this helps
