I have a rather annoying problem. I think the fuel pump on my v6 is on the way out. The symptoms are a sudden loss of power at wide throttle openings. If I give it some gas as you would if you want to get up a hill sharpish, the power suddenly drops away :( if I lift off the throttle a bit then the box up changes and I can carry on albeit at a more leisurely pace. There are no faults logged in the ECU so I'm guessing that maybe the fuel pump is on the way out? I'm a little surprised if it is as the car has only done 34K miles although it is almost 12 years old. Has any one else had an in tank pump fail at such a low mileage?

At 34K miles and 12 years old the fuel pump may well have had a busy life full of short journeys, stopping and starting everyday with the previous owner/s.

Having done some testing last night I,m not convinced it's the fuel pump limiting the engine Power. I think the gearbox ecu is requesting torque reduction then changing up to 4th. As a precaution i checked the 2 gearbox barrel connectors and gave them a spray of contact cleaner, I did the same to the gearbox ecu. The fault hasn't appeared since but it was a bit random anyway. I did give the car a good thrash from a standing start using the command shift red lining it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd which makes me think that the fuel pump is ok. Investigation will have to continue unless there are any other ideas from other members out there?
