Are these roof racks any good...

I plan to take my D2 on holiday soon - this time with 7 people in it (!!)
Time for roof storage I think.
For a one-off holiday I don't want to spend gazillions so I had a quick look at ebay and found these:

Anyone know if they do fit a D2 and, more importantly, if they're any good?

I've got a big fook-off roof box, ideal for a disco, you can have for anundred quid.
That way, yer stuff would be in the dry on the roof.
You'd just need a pair of bars to attach it to.

Not this one, but very similar.

Thanks Trewey - I have a box - I need the bars to use that - I was tempted to a rack for the flexibility (christmas trees, etc)

I guess I'll just be going for the bars or I'll take the plunge on that rack.

Hmmm... whats the load rating on those decorative bars the D2 comes with as standard?
Maybe I can secure two lengths of dexion to those and make my own rack!

Beware the load rating on the Diso 2 roof is 60 kg all in including rack or bars. Not that much when you think most people pack 20 kg into a case on a plane trip. For some people the 60 kg may only just cover the wife's make up lol.

Not sure what the Diso 1 is always worth checking. These are LR recommended weights per the books. Don't know if there is much leeway. But yeah it is pretty crap. That's only 3 jerry cans if you look at its like that.

50kg limit for the D1, but the weight limit is more to do with making the car top heavy rather than whether the roof can take the weight. Personally I use these roof bar's with my roofbox, easy enough to build and fit.

Ahh well, I'll be putting 30kg on roof bars next week so should be fine
