Look at my name DUH LOL
Guys, I put in an offer for a rolling chassis. Will post the details if I get it. I am hoping I am not jumping into a money pit project.

Here everything is so damn expensive and you have to scrounge for parts or contribute to the Land Rover stealership.

One of my friends from Canada had a series 3 and said he bought a few parts from Paddocks. Are the parts from them ok quality? If not, is there a place you guys would recommend?

Thanks.

I've never had any problems with Paddocks as a company; in fact their customer service, delivery times etc has always been excellent, but my experience has been that they do tend to use predominantly Britpart parts, which tends to mean that quality is a bit pot-luck.

Personally, I would use somewhere like lrdirect, where you have the choice of part manufacturers. They also sell Britpart parts, but you usually get a list of parts and prices, including Bearmach, AllMakes etc, so can choose whichever one suits your budget.

HTH

As above really paddocks are very good as a company but you need to be careful on the manufacturers, britpart parts can be pretty hit and miss. The hydraulic parts I would avoid and go with trv Lucas or similar as they tend to vastly outlast.
Little bits and bobs britpart are fine.

I use Padocks a lot but I avoid Britpart made parts I choose the oe manfacturers they offer or shop around but its nearly allways my first call.

Rimmer Bros seem to have a very good catalogue and you get a large choice of suppliers as well as some good exploded diagrams of individual parts. I've only ordered a few items from them though

Thanks for all the feed back and input Mates. I have seen Brit part stickers here on some guys Landys.

I was fortunate with BMW, Audi, VW etc., because they had companies make many of their parts and they will in turn sell to independant service garages like us at 1/4 of the stealership pricing. I guess with Landy Lucas was their main supplier and discounts were non existent.

I was not sure if the aftermarket manufacturers were worth the cost for Landy stuff so wanted to know brands to use and what to avoid.

Thanks again for all your replies Mates.

I used Paddocks for a majority of my parts but ended up switching to Mail order 4x4. They use all other brands besides britpart. They can source Britpart, but as seeing as how much they really Suck, I wouldn't use them. Mail order 4x4, sponsors this page anyways. Going to pay a little bit more for parts, but quality is worth the price, especially if it lasts longer then Britpart.

I've just had them ship some parts out to my friend in Burundi. Ordered them on Friday and they arrived on Tuesday morning.

As for Britpart if you're that bothered just ask for parts from a different manufacturer, they usually carry parts from more companies than Britapart.

Argggggggggggggggeeeeee, I hate some of these people on this god damn island. No flipping principle, respect or concern for anything or anyone but themselves for most.

I called this moron about ten times after he did not stick to his promise to call me this morning, no answer. Went to his place and left a note to call me, Jack crap.... No call.
Why can't people just think if they for a second like to be treated that way, for fooks sake.

Sorry about ranting guys, looks like I might have to import a Landy if I want one or import another vehicle. I am from the Caribbean originally but have never seen such attitude on the other islands and we are certainly not like some of these people. I miss the US and Canada where a mans word is meant and kept, good or bad.

Moving to the UK soon. :)

Yes they are a great firm to deal with I have landranger sevices more or less on my doorstep but would rather drive the 90 mile round trip to paddocks and back if its going to save me money on parts and its a nice drive there aswell.

when I had my series landy's in the past you get to know what britpart stuff to buy and what britpart stuff to avoid but tbh in the past I have more probs with genuine stuff rather than britpart stuff so I suppose its the same with defender parts aswell :)

Paddock is a great company to do business with, they are very helpful and provide an excellent delivery service. But I would try and avoid Brit Part stuff. Some parts have been OK but some others have given up before they should. I have been through three engine temperature sender unites in less than three years. I now have go for a Bearmach which has been fine. I have gone through two Brit part exhaust systems in also less than three years. I will now go for something from Bearmach.
